GORSINATOR Gorse Extraction Services

What is It?

A new method for Noxious Weed Removal

A gorse bush or plant that has been pulled or extracted out of the ground by a puller or extractor

The GORSINATOR, is a new machine for the extraction of Gorse and other noxious weeds. If it can be grabbed and pulled out of the ground the Gorsinator can do this without you getting prickled by the horrible spikes, thorns and prickles often associated with this type of vegetation.

The Gorsinator is attached to a Mini Loader (skid steer) as the prime mover so it utilises smaller machinery usually associated with removing vegetation by force. Because smaller machinery is used there is less damaging impact on your land and less cost involved.

The Gorsinator has toughened steel jaws with serrated teeth that grips the stems of the vegetation above the ground and pulls the vegetation out of the ground with hydraulic power just as you do with smaller weeds in your garden.

It may be small but it is mighty! The Gorsinator has a gripping force of between 3497 to 741 kilograms depending on where the jaws grip the vegetation.

Now you might be thinking, those small mini loaders can't lift a pair of wet socks without tipping over so it won't be able to pull a Gorse plant out of the ground.

But this is where the Gorsinator does the heavy lifting within it's own mechanism. A 2.5 inch or 64 mm diameter hydraulic cylinder, or ram, which can exert over 5800 kilograms of force acts on the mechanism of the Gorsinator which produces a vertical lifting force of 3494 to 1750 kilograms of force depending on which part of the jaw is gripping the Gorse. That's a lot of force.

Once the Gorse is pulled from the ground by the Gorsinator the main lifting arms of the mini loader lifts everything up and the Gorse can be dumped in a pile and burnt to be eradicated.

Our Story

GORSINATOR: The battle against Gorse

The GORSINATOR: Who came up with it?

My name is Gavin and I invented the Gorsinator. I'm a mechanical tradesman and industrial mechanical designer with 40 years of industry experience mostly in manufacturing industries and also aviation so I've seen a lot of stuff.

I live on 8 acres in country Victoria Australia near Ballarat and I'm surrounded by Gorse. Some of the photo's on this website is what is in my area. I was looking at it a while ago and I thought to myself: This is horrible stuff, it needs to go!

I get the odd Gorse plant on my land and I pull it out straight away. This is what everyone should do with Gorse, but, being busy people we don't always get around to it. Then before you know it that Gorse plant is 2 foot high.

It was when I was pulling out a 2 foot high Gorse plant that I learnt that hot damn, this stuff is hard to pull out! Being a woody plant it has a tough stem and roots so it pulls out quite well.

So I came up with an idea of developing a machine to do it and set to work doing just that. I tested my theory through trial and error field testing of how to grab it and how much force is required to pull it out of the ground.

So now the Gorsinator is out there looking for Gorse to defeat.

If you have a problem with Gorse, and let's face it, any Gorse is a problem, please get in touch and I can help you out.
