What is the GORSINATOR ?

The GORSINATOR, is a machine invented and developed by an experienced mechanical tradesman and industrial mechanical designer who lives on a few acres just south of Ballarat in central Victoria, Australia. Nearby to me is 2 to 3 acres of solid Gorse thicket 3 metres high. Looking at it one day I thought, this is bad stuff, it needs to go.

Gorse or Furze, being an introduced noxious weed, is making this land totally useless  for anything except providing a  habitat for vermin such as Foxes, Rabbits, Rodents, Feral Cats & Dogs.

If you have Gorse on your land contact me to help you solve the problem.

Gorse Extraction

Services

We offer Gorse extraction or removal services and at a competitive rate with low impact on your land. Not just Gorse but also other vegetation such as Box Thorn, Brooms, Prickly Acacia and Blackberries that are too hard to remove by hand. The Gorsinator machine grabs these weeds by the scruff of the neck and pulls them out of the ground.

Timber fence posts can also be extracted with the Gorsinator.

Using smaller machinery which means the extraction process has less impact in terms of cost and damage to your land.

The Gorsinator uses a Mini Loader (Skid Steer) as the prime mover to operate from which reduces the cost to you while still having the pulling power required to remove tough vegetation with the extreme power of hydraulics.

The Process

STEP 1: Gorse is a very tenacious plant to extract from the ground and  it requires considerable force. The Gorsinator is a powerful extraction device which can pull out even large Gorse plants.

Extraction of Gorse is the best way to reduce the number of seeds that are left behind which will endure for decades.

There are of course thousands of seeds in the ground if the Gorse is old enough to have gone through it's seeding phase.

STEP 2: No matter which method of Gorse control is used there will always be re-growth of new Gorse plants. This re-growth will need to be extracted or poisoned to prevent a new thicket of Gorse taking hold. DO NOT IGNORE GORSE RE-GROWTH.

STEP 3: Cultivate the soil to help break up the remaining roots and sow a suitable grass to help compete with the Gorse re-growth. Gorse will not germinate from the remaining root system. See Gorse info, the last FAQ for an explanation.

You can now start using your land again for the reasons you own it.

It takes a determined effort to fully eradicate Gorse but it can be done.

What to do with dozens if not hundreds of extracted Gorse plants?

It is a breach of agricultural laws to transport Gorse vegetation so the extracted plants need to be destroyed on-site using safe practices. Burning in small piles to facilitate fire control is recommended.

Gorse burns like mad!

Gorse vegetation contains an oil in a similar way that eucalyptus leaves do so it will burn whether it's dead and dry or it will even burn when green if the fire is hot enough. Ensure safe burning practices are adhered to for your locality or municipality. Consult with the relevant authorities with regards to burning off.
